Marshall Electronics VS-M550-5 Varifocal Lens

The VS-M550-5 is a 5 - 50mm varifocal lens on a CS Mount, rated for 3MP sensors. Varifocal means the framing is set at install rather than fixed at the factory: you choose the effective focal length and the horizontal angle of view on the day, then lock the rings, which is why these lenses end up on courtroom, lecture and fixed-position cameras where the shot has to be right and then stay right.

Exposure is handled by a DC auto iris on the standard 4-pin connector, so the lens tracks changing daylight without anyone touching it, and the maximum aperture of F1.4 keeps the sensor fed in poorer light. Minimum object distance is 0.3 m from the front of the lens. It fits Marshall compact cameras with a CS Mount and other CS Mount bodies that drive a DC auto iris.
