Mackie MDB-1A Active Direct Box

The MDB-1A is an active direct box for instruments with active pickups and preamps, using active circuitry for higher headroom and distortion-free performance at high input levels. It runs on 48V phantom power, so no battery is needed.

A high-impedance 1/4-inch input with a thru jack (switchable into a second, mono-summed input via the Merge switch) feeds a balanced XLR output with ground lift, a -20dB pad, polarity switch, and a low-cut filter for rumble control.
