The LA-403 puts the band behind the head rather than over it, which sits better with hats, hair, and anyone who has to wear it for a two hour performance. It is a dual-ear stereo design, so external room noise is reduced the same way the LA-402 does it.

The shell is hard plastic and wipes down between users, and disposable foam ear cushions are available for a loaner pool. It presents 32 ohms, runs 20 Hz to 15 kHz, and terminates in a 3.5 mm TRS plug with the LA-434 extension cable in the box.
