The foam cap on a headset boom does two unglamorous jobs: it stops plosives from a talker who works close, and it keeps breath and moisture off the capsule. It also compresses and tears with use, and a bare capsule on a windy exterior is unusable.

This is the factory cushion for the Solidcom SE headset mic. Order by the number of headsets in the system rather than one at a time, since replacing the whole set at once keeps every position sounding the same.
