Galaxy Audio CM140 Check Mate SPL Sound Pressure Level Meter

The CM140 is the Check Mate meter that carries a standards claim: IEC 651 Type 2 and ANSI S1.4 Type 2, with +/-1.5 dB accuracy at the 94 dB reference. Three level ranges span 32 dB to 130 dB and the display resolves to 0.1 dB, which is the difference between confirming a noise limit and guessing at it.

A 1 Vrms AC output at full scale lets the meter feed a recorder or analyzer instead of being read by eye, and the 31.5 Hz to 8 kHz range takes in low-frequency content the CM130 does not. One 9 V battery runs it about 70 hours, and it measures 9.1 inches by 2.1 by 1.3.
