Countryman B2D Directional Lavalier Microphone

Directional lavaliers have always meant accepting a much larger capsule, and the B2D is the exception: the next smallest directional lav on the market is more than twice its size. That gets a tight hypercardioid pattern into places an omni normally has to cover, such as mounted in the frame of a pair of glasses or set behind a shirt button, and it is the reason it works at a lectern parked directly under the main house wash where an omni would ring.

The practical gain is 6 to 10 dB of headroom over an omnidirectional lavalier, which shows up as fewer problems with feedback, room rumble, ambient noise, and phase cancellation when several mics are open at once. It ships with a single isolation clip that damps clothing and vibration noise while letting the capsule rotate a full 360 degrees for aiming, and the aramid-reinforced cable is built for repeated calls. Three sensitivities cover chest-worn work (W4), close placement such as eyeglass mounting (W5), and the highest overload level (W6), in five colors, with either a fixed connector or a threaded termination for a separate B2D Detachable Connector.
