Corning USB 3.1 Gen 1 Active Optical Cable, Type-A to Micro-B
Copper USB 3 gives up around five meters. This Corning active optical cable carries USB 3.1 Gen 1 at the full 5 Gb/s as far as 50 meters over optical fiber, which is what makes a machine vision camera, a document camera, or a USB conferencing device usable at the far end of a room or across a studio. The optical core also means the run is immune to the electrical noise that plagues long copper in a rack environment.
The host end is a standard USB Type-A plug; the device end is a USB Micro-B plug with USB 3 Vision locking screws so it cannot vibrate loose on a camera. Bus power is delivered over two copper conductors with built-in over-current protection, and the all-metal connector housings give it solid EMI performance. It is rated for a 5C to 70C case surface, and is FCC Class B, CE, and RoHS compliant. Available in 5, 20, 30, and 50 meter lengths.
