The LP-E17 is Canon's genuine rechargeable lithium-ion battery for its compact EOS DSLR and mirrorless bodies. A factory pack keeps the camera's battery-level readout honest and carries the protection circuitry that keeps charging safe, which is why a real Canon cell is worth carrying over a bargain clone.

Rated at 7.2V and 1040 mAh, it recharges on the matching LC-E17 charger. A spare LP-E17 in the bag is cheap insurance against a dead battery in the middle of a shoot.
