The M179 is CAD's high-end studio condenser, built around a large 1.1-inch dual gold-sputtered diaphragm with an externally-biased, continuously-variable polar pattern that has a hard cardioid center detent. That range makes it useful for close vocal work, room and orchestral capture, or anywhere a session calls for shaping the pickup pattern rather than swapping mics.

A transformerless balanced output keeps distortion low at high levels, and a non-capacitive 20 dB pad plus a 6 dB/octave high-pass filter at 100 Hz give engineers headroom and low-end control without reaching for outboard gear.
