The LGC5184C-R3 is the point in a Black Box link where gigabit copper becomes gigabit fibre. It takes 1000-Mbps in on an RJ45 and puts 1000BASE-LX out on an SC connector at 1310 nm over singlemode, which is how a segment crosses a distance no copper run can and stays clear of electrical noise on the way.

It is a managed converter from the HDMCS II line, drawing its power from the interface rather than a separate brick, and rated for standard 0 to +40 C operation. Made in Taiwan.
