Audio-Technica U891RCB Cardioid Condenser Boundary Microphone
The U891RCx is a cardioid condenser boundary microphone from Audio-Technica's UniPoint series, built for surface-mount pickup on a conference table, a lectern, or a lecture desk, with local or remote switching built in. A small-diameter capsule sits near the boundary to avoid phase cancellation and deliver clear, high-output speech, and its half-cardioid pattern (cardioid in the hemisphere above the surface) rejects room reflections and HVAC rumble helped by an 80 Hz UniSteep low-cut.
An activation switch can be set to touch-on/touch-off, press-to-talk, or press-to-mute, and an external contact closure lets the mic trigger a device such as a camera while its red LED status can be driven remotely. A PivotPoint rotating connector changes the cable exit, and UniGuard shielding fends off RF interference. It requires 11 to 52V DC phantom power and ships with a 25-foot, 5-conductor shielded cable, terminated with a TA5F connector at the mic and left unterminated at the equipment end for the installer.
