Audio-Technica ATH-R70x Headphones
The ATH-R70x is Audio-Technica's first open-back reference headphone, developed as a flagship studio model alongside the closed-back M70x. Acoustically transparent housings made from aluminum honeycomb mesh give it a natural, spacious open-back sound that reveals detail and depth in a mix. High-efficiency magnets and a pure-alloy magnetic circuit reduce distortion and extend high-frequency response, while carbon-composite resin adds structural rigidity for clean transients.
At roughly 210 grams without the cable it is genuinely feather-light, and an improved 3D wing support spreads the weight for comfort through long sessions. A unique dual-sided detachable cable is left/right independent and always keeps proper stereo orientation no matter how it is connected. It is built for critical mixing and reference listening where an open back's natural stage is an advantage, and it includes a protective carrying pouch.
